Vrijwilligersbijeenkomst Training Geweldloze Communicatie

Afgelopen donderdagavond stond in het teken van persoonlijke groei en communicatie bij Brabant Maatjes. Onze vrijwilligers kwamen samen voor een inspirerende vrijwilligersbijeenkomst met training over Geweldloze Communicatie onder leiding van Marieke van de Lisdonk, georganiseerd in het kantoor van Ledenvereniging Thebe Extra. Elke maand organiseren we bijeenkomsten waarin ruimte is voor het delen van ervaringen, onderlinge gesprekken en trainingen. Tijdens de vorige bijeenkomst gaven onze vrijwilligers aan behoefte te hebben aan praktische handvatten om beter grenzen te leren stellen. Met die waardevolle input werd de training Geweldloze Communicatie opgezet.

Een bijzondere start van de avond

Om 18:30 uur verzamelden de vrijwilligers zich bij Ledenvereniging Thebe Extra. De training begon om 19:00 uur met een creatieve kennismakingsronde. Op de grond lagen foto’s verspreid en de deelnemers kozen er eentje uit die hen aansprak. Ze vertelden wat de foto voor hen betekende en waarom ze vrijwilliger zijn geworden. Een van de vrijwilligers koos bijvoorbeeld een foto met ‘eenden’, wat symbool stond voor hoe hij vroeger vaak “in zijn een(d)tje” was, maar nu juist deel uitmaakt van een warme groep.

Daarna liet Marieke een aantal foto’s zonder context zien. De opdracht was om puur te benoemen wat je zag, zonder naar de achterkant te kijken. Dit bleek een mooie oefening in bewustwording: hoe snel we geneigd zijn om te oordelen of aannames te maken zonder de volledige context te kennen. Zoals een vrijwilliger treffend verwoordde: “Never judge a book by its cover.” Hoe jij dingen ziet, kan een ander anders zien. Hierdoor is het belangrijk om altijd na te gaan hoe een ander zich voelt in bepaalde situaties. Dit leerde de deelnemers tijdens de rest van de training.

De kracht van Geweldloze Communicatie

Na deze oefeningen dook Marieke de theorie in van Geweldloze Communicatie. Ze introduceerde de 2×4-stappenmethode, waarmee je een situatie zowel vanuit je eigen perspectief als dat van een ander kunt analyseren.

De eerste vier stappen richten zich op jezelf:

  1. Wat zie je?
  2. Wat voel je?
  3. Wat zou je willen?
  4. Wat wil je vragen aan de ander?

De andere vier stappen focussen op het perspectief van de ander:

  1. Wat ziet de ander?
  2. Wat voelt de ander?
  3. Wat zou de ander willen?
  4. Wat zou de ander helpen?

Met behulp van een behoeften-alfabet leerden de deelnemers hun gevoelens en behoeften te herkennen en benoemen. Vervolgens brachten ze de theorie direct in de praktijk uit, door een situatie te analyseren en hierover in duo’s te sparren.

Waardevolle inzichten en oplossingen

Tijdens de interactieve sessies kwamen er diverse inzichten en oplossingen naar voren, zoals:

  • Het belang van doorvragen naar hoe anderen omgaan met een situatie.
  • Weten bij wie je terecht kunt in verontrustende situaties en de grenzen van je eigen rol als vrijwilliger.
  • Het apart nemen van iemand om een situatie rustig te bespreken, waarna je dit kunt delen met de vertrouwenspersoon van de stichting.

Dankzij deze waardevolle avond hebben onze vrijwilligers niet alleen nieuwe communicatieve vaardigheden ontwikkeld, maar ook stappen gezet in hun persoonlijke groei. Samen maken we Brabant Maatjes sterker, met een heldere focus op respectvolle en effectieve communicatie.
